2018 Infiniti QX50: Production SUV spied, looks really good, gets 268 hp

The 2018 Infiniti QX50 is getting final touches. We know that because we managed to catch a pre-production model just a few moments ago. Even though it looks really interesting, we are not surprised with SUV’s exterior design at all. That’s because we already knew that the crossover won’t look too different from its concept version. Still, we are not disappointed. On the contrary, the new high-riding vehicle will look really good, probably the best in its segment.

The production-ready model shows that there is a connection between QX50 and the Q50. If you compare the sedan and SUV, you will realize that they are sharing the same hood in the front and taillights in the back. Though, the carmaker will definitely add a pair of all-new headlights with LEDs, which are definitely stolen from the concept. It’s pretty much the same story with QX50’s profile and interior. Inside, the 2018 Infiniti QX50 will host double-decker screens on the center stack. The “two-screen” idea isn’t bad at all. This way, the higher display controls navigation all the time, while the lower screen serves from music and all other functions. We have to admit that we were pretty surprised with the fact that the carmaker kept analog gauges. However, that’s not bad at all, because there is a digital screen right between gauges.

The amazing crossover will come mated to a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine, which is going to deliver 268 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque. The base model should be paired with front –wheel drive, while the rest of the lineup comes with the standard all-wheel drive. Of course, the carmaker won’t skip the chance to offer a ProPilot semi-autonomous-driving technology.

According to the latest reports, the all-new QX50 will come either late this year or early in January at the 2018 NAIAS.
