2018 Land Rover Discovery First Glimpse of Interior (SVR and SVX Models In The Works Too)

The new generation 2018 Land Rover Discovery is still far away, but we managed to catch the testing prototype once again. However, this time we took a look inside, and saw one part of what we believe to be the all-new dashboard. On the other hand, the exterior styling is still covered with heavy camouflage, so we can only guess what the car manufacturer plans to do with it.

2018 Land Rover Discovery: Interior and Exterior Changes

As far as we see, the dashboard is completely new and features totally redesigned buttons and controls. We also noticed heating controls, so the amazing SUV should get heated and ventilated seating as a standard part of equipment. In addition, the cabin seems to have better quality materials and more luxury loaded options, like the new navigation and better infotainment. The 2018 Land Rover Discovery is also getting Jag’s Terrain Select system. We know because of this new rotative button, which is actually the gear selector. However, we have to say that this revealed part isn’t impressive at all, but we won’t be too critical until the carmaker introduced the production model.

Like we said before, the exterior changes are not clear due the camo, but the shape hints more dynamic, especially in the front. The streamlined hood should contribute the efficiency of the crossover, but the most important part of the body is the new platform, which will shave around 100 kg of weight.

New Engine Options

The British car manufacturer will also add several new engine options too. The Ingenium engines are done, so we can expect both diesel and gasoline (petrol) options. There will be a new 3.0-liter supercharged which pumps out from 275 to 500 hp. This means that we can expect to see the 2018 Discovery SVR version right after the arrival of the regular 2018 Land Rover Discovery. In addition, the automaker will also offer an oil-burner model that will run on the 2.0-liter turbodiesel and develops around 178 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. This isn’t too powerful option, but it delivers really amazing fuel economy that is estimated to be around 57 mpg combined.

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery will arrive sometime next year, but except of the regular and SVR models, you can also expect the off-road oriented SVX version, as well as ultra-efficient hybrid option.
