2018 Lincoln Navigator Introduced: It’s Better Than Awesome

Lincoln’s new generation Navigator is finally introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show. The full-size SUV is so damn good that the bosses from Cadillac must reconsider a little bit earlier arrival of the all-new Escalade. No, we are not overreacting. The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is the new king of the segment without any doubt. Moreover, we dare to say it’s even better from the untouchable Land Rover Range Rover.

The exterior design is just a matter of taste, but the new bodywork exudes luxury in every way. Lincoln used outlines of the Continental for the front-end styling, but we have to say that the face of the 2018 Navigator looks better. A massive chromed grille with Lincoln emblem in the center dominates, while the gorgeous wheels keep everyone’s attention. There are plenty of chrome details all around, yet the rear hatch sports pretty large taillights.

Inside, the new generation Lincoln Navigator shows its splendor. Of course, the carmaker has applied leather and wood treatment as always, but also a lot more tech than before. Seating options are pretty familiar as the full-size SUV offers the same options as the Continental. “First-row” passengers are getting 30-way-adjustable Perfect Position Seats and pretty useful functions such as heating, cooling, and massaging, while the second row offers standard three-person bench or optional two captain’s chairs. The third-row seats feature power recline, but this is not the most important to know. The last row isn’t tight at all. No, there is plenty of space.

Lincoln technology department stole Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment system, which is a standard part of every trim. It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility of course, and plus, you will get Trailer Backup Assist, 360-degree-view camera, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go ability. There are some cool things from the “option” list such as head-up display and a 12.0-inch virtual instrument cluster in case you are not satisfied with the conventional gauges. In the back, the passengers will be occupied with an entertainment system that includes high-resolution screens for the second row, while the third row gets WiFi hotspot.

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator uses plenty of aluminum, which made it around 200 pounds lighter from the predecessor. It uses Raptor’s amazing twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of twist. The output is higher than earlier, but we have to admit that we miss some thirsty V8 mill. Anyway, the engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while you can choose between rear- and all-wheel drive.

According to Lincoln, the all-new Navigator will become available this fall. They haven’t released any price information, but we think that the price must go up.
