2018 Porsche Cayenne spied without camouflage

A prototype of the 2018 Porsche Cayenne has been spied again on public roads. The completely redesigned SUV isn’t officially introduced yet, but that seems not to be a problem for the carmaker because the testing model comes almost without any camouflage at all. The producer decided to hide just restyled headlights and taillights, while everything else is uncovered, so we can see all the new details of the new generation Cayenne. The job is even easier due to the white paint, which reveals the new styling cues even more.

The white SUV shows almost everything, but we can’t really say that the new generation model looks too exciting. It’s quite fair to say that the new styling is rather evolutionary than revolutionary. Moreover, the luxury crossover looks like it’s just mildly updated. That’s not true of course. Yes, the new exterior design largely resembles the predecessor. However, the changes beneath the skin and inside the cabin are really huge.

As we said earlier, the 2018 Cayenne will switch the old platform for the MLB Evo architecture. This way, the attractive high-riding vehicle will shed 220 pounds and make some space for new engines. Plus high-strength steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber will prevail, which will improve rigidity without any doubt. According to information we have, the car manufacturer will get rid of diesel forever. Instead, they will focus on gasoline engines and hybrids, while sometime later the SUV might receive its first all-electric powertrain. This time, however, the biggest news is a new range-topping model, so-called Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, which will rely on a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 and electric motor. The powertrain has been introduced already under the hood of Porsche Panamera, so we know it’s capable of producing 671 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters).

The drivetrain won’t be the only part which the 2018 Porsche Cayenne will borrow from the amazing sedan. No, some earlier spy shots of the redesigned SUV are showing plenty of similarities inside. That especially refers on a new dashboard, which is almost identical.

The new generation Porsche Cayenne will be officially revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The European buyers will be able to buy it shortly after that. However, in North America, the SUV will become available in dealerships early next year. The carmaker hasn’t released any pricing information until now, but expect to found out that shortly after the official debut.
