2019 Borgward BXi7 Electric SUV Previewed With the BXi7 Concept

Although revived a few years ago, the German car brand Borgward isn’t as popular as other car manufacturers from the same country. However, the brand is backed by BAIC, which means that the money isn’t an issue at all. After they introduced the BX7 and BX5 SUVs, the manufacturer announced the arrival of the coupe-like BX6. Still, the last week’s 2017 Shanghai auto show hosted an all-electric flagship SUV that’s based on the flagship model and is called the 2019 Borgward BXi7.

As you can see from the name, the 2019 Borgward BXi7 should become available sometime in 2019. According to the carmaker, the future electric SUV (and all other electric vehicles from Borgward) will be built at Bremen plant. They also said that the batteries are going to be supplied by LG Electronics, and this is pretty much everything we know so far.

Compared to the gasoline powered BX7, the model with an “i” in its name sports a bit restyled exterior and interior. More precisely, the exterior features a completely new grille, while the interior has a new digital instrument cluster and a two-tone leather upholstery treatment. Even though we have to admit that the new all-digital instrument cluster looks pretty good, we would rather prefer to see the usual analog dials.

The car manufacturer announced the intention to sell the 2019 Borgward BXi7, but it didn’t say anything about the arrival in the United States. However, we are pretty sure that it’s going to become available in North America right after the official debut.
