2019 Chevrolet Blazer Spotted Testing: Design and Engines

Guess what? Chevrolet is really bringing back the Blazer. We’ve announced this earlier, though now we have an actual proof in a form on the prototype. Even though it’s totally camouflaged, it’s quite obvious that this is neither of available nameplates, but an all-new SUV which will sit between the smaller Equinox and full-size Traverse. Still, the new-gen, 2019 Chevrolet Blazer will not be anything you’ve remembered. No, because it’s not going to be a body-on-frame SUV at all. Instead, the car manufacturer is bringing back the Blazer but with crossover characteristic only.

Spy Shots:2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Judging by the latest spy shots, the 2019 Blazer will less bulky than we used to. The front end will definitely host a large radiator grille and aggressive headlights with LED treated running lamps. Below, the front bumper appears to be pretty massive and fitted with fog lamps. Crossover’s A-pillar makes it dynamic enough to fit in the latest trends, while the rears hatch promises enough space to fit in the third row of seats. The back of the crossover still hides everything. Well, almost everything because we see a pair of exhaust tips. Altogether, the exterior design seems to be ready for production. Though, that’s not the case with the interior. The spy shots of the cabin don’t reveal anything at all, but we can sense Chevrolet’s standard suit inside.

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer will reportedly offer two options under the hood. The entry-level model will rely on a 2.5-liter inline-four unit, while the topping option will use a 3.6-liter V6. Both mills will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which is currently in charge for both the Equinox and the Traverse. The crossover will share its platform with the latest Acadia and Cadillac XT5. It is the so-called Chi architecture, which may not provide and special off-road abilities, but will make the 2019 Blazer lighter and softer on road, so to say.

The new-generation Blazer will appear in the second half of the year at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.
