Toyota’s new generation RAV4 seems to be ready. The Japanese car manufacturer has released a teaser photo of the redesigned compact crossover ahead of its debut which is scheduled for the upcoming 2018 New York Auto Show that starts in two weeks.

The teaser shows the silhouette of the 2019 Toyota RAV4, so we can conclude how it’s going to look the new crossover. The small SUV seems to be a far more muscular than the predecessor. More precisely, it borrows plenty of details from the FT-AC concept. And while the exterior has been inspired by the concept, the mechanics are shared with the current C-HR. Yes, these two are riding on the same TNGA architecture.

The modular architecture will be supported by inline-4 engines. To be more exact, the crossover will definitely host a 2.5-liter inline-four that currently powers the Camry. The engine is going to be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and will deliver 203 horsepower. Toyota will likely offer a hybrid or even a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The system will probably be similar to Prius’. Though, the carmaker may reconsider to add more power under the hood. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will not offer any kind of V6 option. They have an amazing 3.5-liter unit, but this is too much for the compact SUV. After all, the closest rivals have no the V6, so why should the new RAV4 have to have the mill?

Aside of the new exterior design, different platform, and better engines, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 will also host a totally redesigned interior, which will benefit from a range of new technologies, including the new infotainment with standard Apple CarPlay. Toyota was pretty clear earlier when they announced that every single model is going to get standard active-safety systems. The list includes the new RAV4 of course.

Like we said before, the new-generation Toyota RAV4 will be introduced at the 2018 New York Auto Show that starts at the end of the month, so stay tuned to find out more about the popular small SUV from Toyota.
