Hyundai’s new flagship SUV is ready to be introduced. The official premiere has been scheduled for this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show which opens to the press on November 28. However, the vehicle that is going to be called the 2020 Hyundai Palisade will not make to the showrooms before next summer.

The Korean car manufacturer released a single shot of the SUV that will provide up to eight seating positions. The photo, however, doesn’t really show anything regarding the design of the flagship vehicle. Still, since we’ve spotted several testing prototypes, we know what’s cooking already. Plus, the carmaker previewed the 2020 Palisade with the Grandmaster concept. Judging by the information, the three-row SUV will feature a boxy design and similar styling cues as the new Santa Fe. More precisely, it will borrow headlights and taillights from the popular mid-size SUV, while the grille should be taken from the aforementioned concept.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade has been underpinned by a new front-wheel-drive platform. The architecture supports transverse engine mounting and all-wheel-drive capability, as well as electrical systems. More precisely, the eight-seat SUV will most definitely host a hybrid powertrain under the hood. Still, the entry-level option will be paired with a V6 engine. The V6 is actually going to be the 3.3-liter that provides up to 290 horsepower, while you can also expect the more powerful bi-turbo version that pumps out up to 365 ponies. An eight-speed will most definitely be the only available transmission.

We haven’t seen the cabin of the eight-seat SUV so far, but regardless of the fact, we are pretty sure that the automaker used the best possible materials for the interior, as well as advanced technologies, including the latest infotainment system and safety kit.

Still, no matter how good and interesting the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is going to be it will have pretty tough first years without any doubt. That’s because the segment counts a number of amazing models like Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, Dodge Durango, Ford Expedition, Honda Pilot, Nissan Armada, and Toyota Sequoia. Plus, Kia will make its eight-seat model which will be built on the same platform as the Palisade. The sibling will be called the Telluride and will be introduced sometime next year.

As we said earlier, the 2020 Palisade SUV will make its debut soon, so stay tuned for updates.
