2020 Ram 3500 HD Dually: Large Workhorse Spotted Testing

Ram’s all-new Power Wagon has been spotted testing a few days ago. Still, the carmaker isn’t working on its off-road model only at the moment. We know that because our photographers have managed to catch a prototype of what appears to be the updated 2020 Ram 3500 HD Dually.

2020 Ram 3500 HD Dually refresh

The large HD workhorse is spied totally camouflaged, so it’s hard to figure out what’s beneath. However, we think we know what’s going on underneath. The vehicle will probably get pretty much the same treatment as the redesigned 2019 Ram 1500. More precisely, the carmaker will add a totally new grille, so you can say goodbye to thus far crosshair shape. Plus, the workhorse will host a pair of LED headlights, which will definitely get a new shape, probably a lot sleeker. As far as we can conclude, the new fenders will sit higher than earlier, while the new hood should be a bit more aggressive.

It’s pretty much the same story inside. The 2020 Ram 3500 HD Dually will probably get the same treatment as the new-gen Ram 1500, which means that the potential buyers are going to be able to choose between an 8.4- and 12-inch touchscreens. Both will be mated to the all-new Uconnect 4 infotainment, but just the bigger one comes paired with the standard navigation system. Of course, the new cabin will be covered with some upscale materials, while the dash should be slightly restyled.

The refreshed model will just like its predecessor host three engines. However, some slight changes will definitely happen. While the gasoline 5.7-liter V8 and 6.4-liter V8 should make the same output as earlier, the only oil burner option will probably increase both power and torque in order to be competitive with the biggest rivals from Ford and Chevrolet. At the moment the 6.7-liter straight-six turbo diesel comes in three tunes: 350 hp and 660 pound-feet of torque, 370 hp and 800 lb-ft, and 385 HP with 930 lb-ft, but we expect from the last one to be at the verge of 1,000 lb-ft of twist when the 2020 Ram 3500 HD Dually arrives sometime next year.
