Volkswagen started making some changes on its three-row crossover SUV. Yes, in addition to an almost ready two- row Cross Sport sibling, the German car manufacturer is preparing a mid-cycle updated 2021 Volkswagen Atlas.

Based on the spy shots, the refreshed Atlas is getting ready to receive a few interesting cosmetic changes. The camouflage definitely hides a new and larger grille in the front, as well as a pair of new lights. The SUV seems to be getting new vertical driving lamps too, while we largely expect to see reshaped taillights when the updated model arrives. Of course, the carmaker will not skip the opportunity to add a few new exterior paints too, as well as new alloy rims.

Truth to be told, we have no idea what’s going on inside of the new crossover SUV, but we don’t really expect more than an updated infotainment and upgraded driving aids.

Things are similar under the hood. More precisely, the refreshed Atlas is getting either unchanged engines or just a couple of horses up. Currently, the vehicle can be ordered with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder producing 235 horsepower or a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 276 hp. Either way, you get an 8-speed auto gearbox that shifts power to front- or all-wheel drive system.
