2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer Spied Camouflaged: The Iconic SUV Will Definitely Return Next Yeaar

We managed to catch a prototype of Chevrolet’s all-new SUV. The spy shots can’t really tell us what’s beneath the camouflage, yet the latest rumors suggest that we are looking into the new generation Trailblazer. Chevy’s iconic nameplate may be coming back in the form of the mid-size SUV and will be officially announced either at this year’s Los Angeles auto show, or early next year at Detroit auto show. In both cases, we are pretty sure it’s going to be introduced as the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Chevy’s new SUV will get the same footprint as the GMC Acadia, Cadillac XT5, Buick Enclave, which are basically platform siblings as well. Yes, the next-generation Trailblazer will ride on the same C1XX platform and will most likely use the same 3.6-liter V6 engine. The unit should deliver up to 310 horsepower and will be mated either to a six-speed auto transmission or an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission. Of course, the crossover won’t have just one engine choice. Instead, the car manufacturer will probably offer the base model paired with a 2.0-liter turbo that’s capable of delivering 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Even though we can’t see what’s beneath the camo, it’s quite clear that the 2019 Chevy Trailblazer won’t have anything in common with its predecessor. On the contrary, the upcoming crossover will definitely sport a lot smoother bodywork. Okay, the front-end styling appears to be as bulky like we are looking into the new Acadia SUV, yet the rest of the body features pretty dynamic styling cues. We can find plenty of similarities with the new Equinox. As you can see, the camouflaged vehicle and the Equinox share the same rooflines and roof rails, and possibly identical the rear end.

The 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer (or whatever they decide to name this all-new SUV) should be ready pretty soon, so we are expecting to see more testing models in the coming days. Of course, the prototypes will lose camouflage, which should give us more information about the upcoming crossover.
