2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe Prototype Caught On Winter Testing

The most potent and meanest-looking version of Mercedes’ GLE Coupe has been spotted dancing on snow a few hours ago. No matter it’s still under great camouflage, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe looks stunning already. The coupe-SUV hosts not only square-shaped four-pipe exhaust design in the back, a special multi-slated Panamericana front grille, and flared fenders, but also lowered suspension and quite massive wheels with beefier brakes.

The rakish mid-size coupe-like SUV gets a powerful powertrain. According to our insiders, the automaker decided to use AMG’s familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 unit and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox will send power to a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system. The standard model will squeeze off 603 horsepower, while the GLE 63 S should be able to pump out up to 630 horsepower from the same powertrain.

It would be exciting to see what the testing prototype has to offer inside, but unfortunately, that’s not possible now. One thing is sure: the car will come connected with the latest MBUX infotainment, sports seats, and steering wheel. Of course, the automaker will not skip the opportunity to offer some attractive contrast stitching and possibly two-tone leather treatment.

In addition to the spotted 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe, the German car manufacturer works on a replacement for the current GLE43 Coupe. We’ve spotted the camouflaged model in testing form. There are several important styling differences between the GLE 63 and 53 models. The less potent version is fitted with oval exhaust tips and different single-bar grille. Of course, it uses a totally different powertrain too. It will come coupled with a mild-hybrid system with a new inline-6 engine at the helm of the parade. Total output will be limited to 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. The V8-like output will deliver around 20 percent better fuel economy, though.

The amazing coupe-SUV will most probably be introduced this summer.
