Bronco this, Bronco that, Bronco now, Bronco then, Bronco, Bronco, Bronco! Yes, the iconic off-roader is definitely coming back, and yes, it promises to be really interesting SUV, but no, it won’t be introduced before the 2019 year. These are official words of the carmaker, so we have to wait three more years for the 2020 Ford Bronco. However, don’t despair, because we are getting more and more information about it every day.
Thus far, we were pretty sure that the new generation Bronco can;t skip F-150’s platform. Well, this won’t happen at all. Instead, Ford’s future off-road SUV will share the underpinnings with the 2019 Ranger. As you may probably know, the car manufacturer will also bring back the small pickup home, and what’s more important, both models will be produced in Wayne, Michigan. Essentially, the new architecture won’t differ too much from F-150’s. There will be plenty of aluminum parts without any doubt. Moreover, the latest reports indicate that the Blue Oval plans to use this material more than ever before.
In contrast to the same platform, the 2020 Ford bronco won’t share the powertrain options with the next generation Ford Ranger. Well, at least it will not get all the options. While the carmaker reconsiders to add a big number of various units under the hood of the upcoming pickup, the future SUV won’t be that generous. Instead, you can expect two or three options, all gasoline. The base model will probably get a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with 280 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost will be offered, while the topper could get Raptor’s amazing mill. The engines will be paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, yet you can expect an optional manual gearbox, probably the six-speed.
We haven’t seen any testing prototype of the 2019 Bronco yet, but the rumors suggest that the styling won’t sport any dynamic cues. The manufacturer will likely continue with the distinctive square design. Of course, there will be plenty of new and amazing styling details all around, as well as the latest multimedia system available in that moment.
Judging by the latest rumors, the interesting model should start at around $30K, or even less.
