2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country Revealed and Detailed

The 2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country is neither an SUV nor a wagon. No, the vehicle is the perfect combination of both. The new model is definitely better from its predecessor thanks to a number of useful improvements.

The Swedish automaker added a new chassis and updated suspension in order to enhance wagon’s off-road abilities. Thanks to that, the 2019 V60 Cross Country gets almost 3 inches of additional ground clearance over the regular V60 wagon. To be more precise, the car is lifted up for exactly 2.95 inches, which together with standard all-wheel-drive, hill-descent control, and a specific off-road driving mode provides the perfect combination for off-roading.

The updated wagon-crossover vehicle is also fitted with a standard late-keep assist system, as well as with City Safety automatic braking system, though the potential buyers will be able to enrich car’s safety with Pilot Assist. The system is a perfect assistant in steering, accelerating, and braking, but only until the car doesn’t cross 80 mph.

Initially, the 2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country is going to be offered with carmaker’s T5 powertrain only. However, they have a plan to offer both mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains later. The “plugged” option is actually the T8 system that produces 400 horsepower. As for the base option, the model is paired with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that delivers exactly 250 horsepower. The power reaches front wheels only via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The cabin of the new Volvo V60 Cross Country mirrors the regular V60, but that’s not bad at all. In contrast to pretty much the same design, car’s infotainment is slightly better as the off-road wagon gets standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as 4G networking. Regarding the exterior changes, well, the most notable things are the new grille and tougher body cladding without any doubt.

The Swedish automaker will reveal everything about the 2019 V60 Cross Country later this year, so stay tuned for updates.
