2022 Ram Dakota Will Be FCA’s New Mid-Size Pickup Truck

There’s a completely new Ram pickup truck in the works. According to the newest reports, the car manufacturer started developing its mid-size truck in order to fill the hole made when the Dodge Dakota disappeared from the map. The successor of the amazing pickup truck will reportedly be introduced in two years, most likely wearing a familiar nameplate. Well, this time, the name it’s not going to be under Dodge jurisdiction. Instead, FCA will most probably introduce the mid-size pickup truck named the 2022 Ram Dakota.

Allegedly, the all-new Dakota will be nothing alike its predecessor. Unlike the model that went off the scene in 2011 and provided respectable abilities that were supported by a V8 engine, the future model will be a significantly softer vehicle. More precisely, the automaker is reconsidering possibility to build the mid-size pickup truck which will share underpinning with the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. This way, the unibody-based next-generation Dakota will be able to provide an exceptional riding quality, as well as a high-level of comfort inside of the cabin and fuel-efficient powertrains. The architecture made for crossover SUVs opens up new possibilities under the hood, so the 2022 Ram Dakota might have some electrification in mind.

Still, neither of the rumors has been officially confirmed so far, so we only know that the Dakota successor is underway and that it’s going to be produced abroad. To be more precise, FCA plans to move its heavy-duty truck from Mexico to the United States. Meaning, the Saltillo, Mexico, assembly plant will be in charge of the 2022 Ram Dakota.
