2020 MG Extender Mid-Size Pickup Truck Introduced And Priced

British car manufacturer MG introduced a completely new model. The brand that currently belongs to SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) revealed its first-ever pickup truck, the 2020 MG Extender. The vehicle made debut in Thailand, but we are absolutely sure that the model is going to be available in Australia and maybe even in Europe.

Essentially, the MG Extender is nothing else but the rebadged SAIC Maxus T70, meaning the changes that separate these two are mostly cosmetic. More precisely, the new mid-size pickup truck hosts MG’s distinctive grille in the front and rides on larger wheels. Inside, the biggest advantage over the T70 is all-new touchscreen infotainment which is intuitive and easy-to-use. Upper trims of the workhorse get some advanced features like LED DRLs and leather upholstery. The truck can come coupled with automatic climate and a rear-view camera, as well as with lane departure warning, hill descent control, and blind-spot monitoring.

The 2020 MG Extender can be paired with three engine options. To be more precise, the 20L4E is capable of delivering 211 horsepower (213 PS), while a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four comes in two configurations: 161 or 215 horsepower (163 or 218 PS) and 354 pound-feet (480 Nm). Lower trim levels come fitted with a rear-wheel-drive, while more expensive MG Extender gets four-wheel-drive. Potential buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearboxes. Also, there are two available body configurations of the truck: extended and crew cab.

The entry-point extended cab Extender is priced $17,850, while the crew cab model starts at $24,680.
