2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer : Redesigned Woody is back. First details of the New Generation

Judging by the latest rumors, the auto market will get one more returnee, which will arrive as Jeep’s new flagship SUV. Yes, we talk about the next generation, 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer – a full-size body-on-frame SUV. As you probably know, during the earlier existence, the Wagoneer had its distinctive wood-paneled exterior styling, so it will be quite interesting to see what the carmaker plans with this detail. Odds for the woody Jeep Wagoneer are little, but regardless the fact, we think that the manufacturer could think of something that will convincingly substitute woodgrained sides on the exterior styling.

2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Redesign and Platform

The all-new 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will arrive after the new generation and fully redesigned 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is because these two SUVs should share the platform, or more precisely, the Wagoneer will ride on Cherokee’s new underpinnings. The platform is just the part of the exciting puzzle, but we cannot know the whole picture at the moment. This is because there is no information about the future exterior design. As for the potential new features, the full-sizer will definitely get more off-road oriented characteristics that will make it capable and reliable. The carmaker will likely offer four-wheel independent suspension and electro-hydraulic power steering, as well as some other innovative features that will turn the new flagship SUV into a real off- and on-road vehicle.

2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Engines and Rivals

It is quite hard to determine which one engine will be appropriate for the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The rumors say it will get both V-6 and V-8 mills, as well as a diesel unit. The biggest rivals of the future SUV will be Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, Ford Expedition, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and similar models, so it is quite clear that the vehicle has to offer capable engines. If you ask us, the base option must be an updated 3.2-liter V6 Pentastar, which is going to get direct fuel injection and variable valve timing improvements. There will be a larger, V-8 engine, and the only one that we can remember is actually a 5.7-liter V8.  In each case, the engines will be paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive system.

Jeep’s iconic Jeep Grand Wagoneer is definitely in the works, but the charming SUV won’t be available before the 2017, so you have to wait a year or two.
