2020 BMW X1 Facelift Spied: Changes and Engines

What’s going on with crossovers? Carmakers are constantly making new high-riding models, while the existing versions get certain changes over and over again. But that’s a good thing, right? Well, it depends on what’s changed. Let’s take the BMW X1 for the example. The second-generation of the small SUV has been introduced two years ago, and the German car manufacturer hurries to introduce the mid-cycle facelift for the upcoming year. This way, the 2020 BMW X1 will definitely get the fresh face, but that’s not too important at all, because most of the public isn’t used to the today’s appearance since it is almost new as we speak. Luckily, the facelifting won’t be all for the 2020 X1. No, the crossover will also get a few changes inside and under the hood, as well as a bit better standard equipment.

This extra-standard kit, so to say, is actually auto emergency braking and a reversing camera. Yes, both of them are going to be standard across the range which is great. The photographers which caught the testing model claim that there are a few tweaks over the dashboard, while we think that the manufacturer won’t miss the chance to update the existing infotainment system.

From the outside, the 2020 BMW X1 gets a thin camouflage which reveals almost everything. However, we think that the design you see is not going to be the last word from the automaker. Instead, the production version of the facelifted SUV will probably host X5’s new square grille treatment and a pair of hexagonal headlights. The rear end will feature new graphics for taillights, while we also expect minimal changes of the rear bumper and exhaust layout. Of course, BMW will not forget to add a few new exterior colors which will definitely spice up everything.

The updated 2020 BMW X1 will probably use the existing engine options. Though, some of them could get some extra power and torque. These three- and cylinder units will be paired with a 6-speed auto, 8-speed auto or 7-speed DCT. In addition, some rumors claim that the carmaker plans to offer one more engine with around 200 hp. Still, we have nothing official about it, so let’s wait to see what will happen in the coming months.
