2020 Chevrolet Montana Unibody Pikcup Truck Coming Soon

We’ve announced earlier this year that there is a great possibility to see Chevrolet’s third-generation Montana pickup truck. According to the newest reports, the unibody workhorse is definitely coming soon, but it is not going to be available in North America as we originally thought. Instead, the automaker will make the compact available for Latin America by the end of next year, while overseas markets should get the 2020 Chevrolet Montana in early 2020. It’s important to say that the pickup could be named the Chevy Tornado and Utility in some countries.

In any case, there are several possibilities concerning the platform of third-generation Chevy Montana. Some reports claim that the pickup could rely on GEM architecture, yet another source is pretty sure that the unibody vehicle is going to use the D2XX. When we think about it, the second one makes sense as the chassis supports today’s Cruze and suits perfectly for the compact pickup truck.

In addition to the same bones, the 2020 Chevrolet Montana will also use the same powertrain as the compact car. Meaning, the vehicle will rely on the turbocharged 1.4L I-4 LE2 that delivers 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The mill will come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The truck will almost definitely get the optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder capable of delivering 252 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be paired to GM’s excellent nine-speed automatic.

Truth to be told, we have almost nothing on the design of the future compact pickup truck. So far, we know that the 2020 Montana is going to be coupled with four doors, which was not the case before. This also means that the successor is definitely getting the larger footprint.

Stay tuned for updates.
