2020 Ram 2500 Tradesman: Redesigned HD Truck Spied Testing Wearing Less Camouflage

It’s not the first time we’ve spied a prototype of the next-generation Ram heavy-duty, but we were never this close like this time. The newest testing model is still camouflaged, yet the camo is not as heavy as usual. Plus, the automaker let us see new front-end treatment of what appears to be the 2020 Ram 2500 Tradesman.

The new face tells us something we were largely expecting. As you can see, the heavy-duty model will receive pretty much the same treatment as the redesigned Ram 1500. There is pretty much the same grille with bisecting bars and RAM badge in the middle, as well as a pair of notably slimmer headlights. Still, it’s important to mention that the carmaker plans to offer three different sets of headlights with the new-gen HD model. The rest of the Ram’s redesigned HD pickup truck is still camouflaged, but regardless of the fact, we’ve managed to notice that the workhorse features pretty much identical broad doors, bedsides, and slimmer glass as the 2019 Ram 1500.

The 2020 Ram 2500 Tradesman will get a redesigned frame and suspension, but the automaker still hides the details. On the other hand, we do know that the power is going to come from pretty much the same options. Meaning, the base model will use a 383-hp 5.7-liter V8 engine, while the more potent gasoline model is going to come paired with a 6.4-liter V8. It’s unclear whether it will feature a carryover output of 410 horsepower or a bit more power. In any case, the most capable 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel will reportedly be updated in order to develop around 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, the pickup truck will receive a total makeover, which will most probably be based on the Ram 1500. More precisely, the 2020 Ram 2500 Tradesman will come coupled with an 8.4-inch screen available as standard, while a 12-inch touchscreen comes as an option. The carmaker will use better quality materials without any doubt, while we largely expect plenty of new technologies as well.

The 2020 Ram 2500 will keep the same trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and the Limited. The model will be introduced early next year at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.
