BMW X7 Pickup Truck

No, the pickup truck with BMW’s distinctive kidney grille isn’t any kind of joke at all. This unnamed workhorse is a real deal, and as you probably see, it’s heavily influenced by the BMW X7. Unfortunately, the Bavarian car manufacturer has no plans for the model. Instead, the BMW X7 pickup truck is just a teaser for the upcoming BMW Motorrad Days motorcycle meet in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. After all, that’s the reason why the carmaker loads the truck with an awesome BMW F 850 GS bike.

Anyway, the pickup which was actually a challenge for students taking part in the BMW Group Vocational Training program shows several interesting details. You may find interesting the fact that the five-seat truck stretches over the SUV-sibling length, and yet it’s significantly lighter. More precisely, the BMW X7 pickup truck cuts out 440 pounds when compared to the three-row SUV. The students made such an improvement thanks to the use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. The lightweight material is in charge of the roof, rear doors, and cargo box. The total length of the bed is 55-inch which isn’t too impressive at all. However, the bed stretches to 80 inches with the rear lid open.

Under the hood, the BMW X7 pickup truck gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine. The mighty mill pumps out 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque that supply all four wheels.

Even though the dark-blue pickup truck looks like it’s ready to hit showrooms, that’s not going to happen. Well, at least the Bavarian car manufacturer claims that. Still, bearing in mind that the biggest competitor Mercedes made the breakthrough to the segment, we would not write off the arrival of the BMW X7 pickup truck in the coming years.
