After we spotted the all-new three-row crossover in Southern California, we expect to see it at one of the upcoming auto shows. However, the German carmaker is planning to introduce something similar, but again completely different. The manufacturer released a few teaser photos, which are likely the announcement of the new generation, 2018 Volkswagen Touareg that will debut at the 2016 Beijing auto show. However, the producer remained silent about this matter, so we can call it just the new concept SUV.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Concept: Design and Features
These teaser photos of the concept SUV show really amazing bodywork. There are some styling tweaks that we already saw with the new generation Tiguan, and this makes the upcoming vehicle really dynamic and aerodynamic. However, in contrast to the smaller Tiguan, the concept version of the 2018 Touareg sports several completely new details like wide shoulders and whole new lightening cluster, which features angular and sharp headlights, as well as LED strip that bordering the redesigned grille. Around back, the new generation Touareg gets more rounded design and tail lamps with LED that have pixel-inspired look. We haven’t seen the interior yet, but according to the car manufacturer, the concept SUV will feature quite stylish cab, which will be packed with a number of new technologies. The cab is rumored to get a completely new infotainment that will debut in this concept.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Plug-In Hybrid
Volkswagen loves to introduce its concepts with some kind of hybrid drivetrain, so they will not miss a chance to present the new plug-in hybrid setup with the 2018 VW Touareg concept. The amazing powertrain will be able to produce 376 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of twist, which will deliver really respectable results. Namely, the SUV will be capable to speed up from 0 to 60 in just 6 seconds, while the top speed should be electronically limited on 139 mph. The vehicle gets several driving modes, and the most economical ride will be able to achieve around 94 mpg combined, while the full electric mode should enable around 50 miles of driving without any help.
