The slow-selling Tribeca SUV was canceled in 2013, but just after five years of retirement the manufacturer is about to introduce the successor. Still, the 2018 Subaru Tribeca replacement will get an all-new name, which isn’t known at the moment. We already heard that the upcoming three-row crossover could borrow plenty of styling details from the attractive Viziv Future Concept, yet this time we have some spy shots that don’t confirm the theory.
New Design Seems Familiar
The 2018 Subaru Tribeca replacement still wears heavy camouflage, so we can’t see all the details. However, since it has been testing with the Ford Explorer and Mazda CX-9, we can determinate the dimensions, which is pretty similar to the old Tribeca. The front end design isn’t too aggressive, but it will definitely feature Outback’s grille and bold bumper with really large air intake. As you may notice, the triangular headlights are almost the same as old Tribeca’s, but this will definitely change in the coming days. Around back, the future three-row CUV appears to feature Forester’s LED taillights and dual exhaust pipe design, which indicates what’s under the hood.
Boxer Under The Hood
We are sure it will be Subaru’s familiar 3.6-liter flat six engine that currently delivers 256 horsepower and 247 lb. ft. of torque. However, the Boxer engine should be upgraded a little bit, so it might produce up to 270 horsepower. Of course, it will be paired to CVT and all-wheel drive only.
Except f the new exterior and better performance, the 2018 Tribeca replacement will definitely get a far better interior. If the carmaker what’s success, then the crossover needs to have more luxury and entertainment. It will also feature more space inside, which is enabled with a new Subaru Global platform. The chassis is introduced with new Impreza, so we are sure about this matter.
2018 Subaru Ascent 7?
As for the name, the manufacturer hasn’t said anything about this matter, yet they recently filed trademarks for Ascent 7 name, so we might be looking in the all-new 2018 Subaru Ascent 7 right now.
