2019 Ford F-150 Raptor Spy: New Rear End, But Nothing More

The 2018 Ford F-150 will receive a mid-cycle refresh in the coming without any doubt. We already spied a number of testing models, so it’s quite obvious that Ford’s bestselling truck nameplate is going to be updated. However, except of this rather expected venture, Blue Oval is also working on something very interesting and completely surprising. It appears that the auto maker prepares a mid-cycle update of the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor. We know that because we already saw partly camouflaged testing model that currently gets some changes in the rear end only.

Changes and Updates

Yes, the prototype sports camouflage at the rear end only, but this doesn’t mean that there will be no changes on the front end. It’s more likely that they don’t know yet in what direction to go with the mid-cycle refresh. On the other hand, the rear end will receive a totally new taillights and redesigned tailgate handle. This time the handle gets protruding section on the bottom. We must say that these are pretty small changes, but since there is at least two years until the arrival of the refreshed model, there might be a number of other changes.

Nothing New Under The Hood

Still, what we know for sure is that the 2019 Raptor won’t change anything under the hood. The current model already has an impressive engine that doesn’t need any improvements. It is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough power for this kind of vehicle. The engine will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission only, while the fuel economy will stay unchanged: 15/18/16 mpg city/highway/combined.

Like we said, the refreshed 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor will likely receive more new styling tweaks inside and out. The updated pickup truck will arrive in late 2018.
