2019 Porsche Macan Gets A Mid-Cycle Refresh and Several New Engine Options

We managed to catch a prototype that seems to be Porsche’s new Macan. More precisely, it’s the facelifted version of the five-door luxury SUV. Since the first model was introduced in 2013, we assume that the refreshed crossover might arrive sometime next year as the 2019 Porsche Macan. The spy shots don’t reveal much, yet the latest reports suggest that Porsche’s smaller SUV is getting some cosmetic changes on the exterior and better tech inside. However, what’s most important, it will host a range of new powertrain as well.

According to Autocar.com, the 2019 Macan will drop its current options in favor of new V6 engines. The smaller 3.0-liter turbocharged unit will be able to deliver around 330 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, a performance-oriented 3.0-liter mill will pump out up to 354 hp and 369 pound-feet of twist. As for the refreshed 2019 Macan Turbo, it will use a 2.9-liter engine with 440 ponies and 405 lb-ft. Judging by the information we have, Porsche will add a plug-in hybrid drivetrain as well. The system is pretty familiar because the manufacturer already introduced it with the new Panamera E-Hybrid. It combines the new twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine and an electric motor, which should be enough for 500 horsepower.

The 2019 Porsche Macan will use the current platform, but there will be some changes under the skin as well. Our source claims that the carmaker plans to add a totally different suspension system that will significantly improve crossover’s comfort and stability. SUV’s new exterior won’t differ too much from today’s look. The 2019 Macan will sport a redesigned front fascia with a new grille and completely different daytime running lamps. There might be certain changes below, as the prototype wears a different bumper styling too. The German car manufacturer won’t skip the chance to refresh the rear end. However, don’t expect to see more from a pair of new taillights and maybe a redesigned exhaust system.

The interior would likely host a larger number of changes. There is nothing wrong with the current cabin, yet the refreshed model should get more comfort-oriented goodies inside. The car manufacturer will probably add a new infotainment display and more standard features. Of course, they won’t skip the chance to add more handsome upholstery.

Stay tuned for updates.
