Mercedes-Benz’s GL-Class has been spotted partly camouflage, which means that the carmaker plans to introduce the updated version. This reliable SUV came new in 2013, so it is pretty certain that the 2017 model comes just refreshed. However, except it will suffer a mid-cycle update, the vehicle will also get a new name. Thus, you won’t be able to buy a GL, but the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS. This new ”S” letter stands for a S-Class and signifies car’s place in the lineup.
2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS: Redesign and Changes
The exterior changes are no too big, moreover the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS will get just several cosmetic reworks on the front and rear ends. The front fascia will feature new bumper styling and a largely updated grille. The new hood looks more rounded, the headlights seem also redesigned, while the rear lights might get new graphics, but not the new shape. Inside, you will find a new dashboard and an upgraded infotainment. There is a new dash display, while the trims might get different materials and colors.
2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS gets same engines and same price
The engine lineup won’t give us anything interesting, because the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS should not get any new unit. The GLS450 model will carry over its V6 turbo that delivers 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of twist, while the GLS BlueTEC should stay with its current turbocharged V-6 diesel, which will deliver 240 HP and 455 lb-ft. There will be also a turbo V-8 mill with the GLS550. The powertrain will work with 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The best “deal” will stay the GLS63 AMG, which will be able to deliver 577 hp and 561 lb-ft, and a top speed of 155, as well as the 0-60 sprint of 4.9 seconds. 4Matic all-wheel drive will remain standard option.
The updated GLS will be introduced either late this year, or in early 2016. In any case, the price of the base model should stay almost the same.
