2019 Audi SQ2 Introduced: It’s An SUV Within An Inch Of 300 Horsepower

You won’t find the 2019 Audi SQ2 crossover SUV anywhere near North America. No, the smallest four-ring SUV available in the U.S is the Q3. Still, we have to say that it would be nice to see this slightly smaller model soon, at least in its high-performance “suit”.

2019 Audi SQ2

The automaker introduced the Q2 earlier this year in Geneva, while the 2019 SQ2 arrives next week in Paris. The sporty version has been previewed online, so we know pretty much everything about it already.

According to Audi, the crossover comes paired with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that powers all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The drivetrain delivers exactly 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which makes the SQ2 significantly powerful from the regular Q2 that’s limited to 187 hp. Audi claims that the hot SUV is going to be able to speed up from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds, while top speed stays limited to 155 mph.

Aside it uses the impressive engine, the 2019 Audi SQ2 also benefits from a range of a quite useful equipment. The list is so long, so we don’t know where to start. The SUV gets lowered suspension for exactly 20 millimeters and significantly beefier brakes which are 13.4 inches in the front and 12.2 inches in the rear. Calipers are basically painted in black, but the potential buyers can require red ones. Of course, Audi’s all-wheel-drive system has a special ability to switch all available torque to the rear wheels when it’s needed. The new Audi SQ2 comes paired with 18-inch wheels with 235/45-size tires, but there is available 19-inch set with 235/40-size tires.

The SUV will become available early next year. The automaker hasn’t set the price yet, so stay tuned for updates.

They also skipped announcing the vanilla 2020 Audi RS Q2, which according to Autocar is definitely coming late next year. The topper will reportedly use a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 with 400 horsepower.
