2019 Ford F-Series Super Duty gets updated ends, new transmission, and more power

Even though it’s not the most powerful and capable truck available in Blue Oval, the fast-selling F-150 is always the first in line to get some changes. That’s the case ever since the amazing truck exists and it’s now as well. Right after the car manufacturer revealed the refreshed 2018 F-150, we caught a prototype of the updated 2019 Ford F-Series Super Duty. The partly camouflaged truck you see isn’t any Super Duty, but the most capable and topping F-450 Platinum trim. As you see it right now, the pickup sees it’s going to sport just a few changes here and there, but that’s not exactly true. No, the amazing high-riding vehicle will also host a number of improvements inside of the cabin and under the hood.

Exterior and Interior Changes

As far as facelifts go, the updated exterior will feature an updated pair of headlights and a new grille, both pretty similar to the 2018 F-150. The Super Duty truck appears to have a lowered front fascia, which is the case with the smaller sibling as well. In addition, the rear end is also getting new taillights F-150’s of course, while everything else should stay untouched.

We got to admit that we haven’t seen truck’s inside at all. However, we are a hundred percent sure it’s going to host an updated version of the Sync 3 infotainment with Apple Car Play and Android Auto technology and perhaps a bigger touchscreen. Plus, the carmaker might add new upholstery and some new accents to the dashboard.

More Power and New Transmission

The 2019 Ford F-Series Super Duty will definitely switch to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. This way the existing engines should deliver a bit better fuel economy and smoother drive of course. Speaking of engines, the 2019 F-450 will probably continue to use the existing options 6.2-liter gas V8 and 6.7-liter diesel, yet both should deliver higher outputs. As we can’t say how many ponies will deliver the updated V8 gasoline mill, we are pretty sure that the oil-burner option is getting staggering and unreal 1,000 pound-feet of torque along with at least 460 horsepower. The figure will definitely push today’s towing capacity further.

Price and Arrival

The F-450 won’t be the only Super Duty truck with the changes. No, the manufacturer will add similar changes to the F-250 and F-350 model as well. Although it’s just a mid-cycle update, the pickups will probably cost a bit more that the current ones, mostly because of the new transmission. According to the latest reports, the refreshed 2019 F-Series Super Duty will be introduced next spring.
