2019 Subaru Ascent teased ahead of 2017 Los Angeles auto show

Subaru’s Tribeca replacement has been confirmed for the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The all-new three-row SUV will be introduced as the 2019 Subaru Ascent and will hit the U.S. dealerships next spring. The Japanese car manufacturer has released a single teaser for this occasion, but we expect a few more shots in the coming hours. Still, until this happens, here is a single taillight and just a little bit more.

2019 Subaru-Ascent-rear end teaser

Judging by the teaser, aside from the aforementioned taillight the 2019 Ascent will also host a black bumper and an upright tailgate. The Ascent badge isn’t too bumptious, while the brushed aluminum trim embellishes the overall design.

The thing you can’t see on the teaser and yet we know that comes is a wide and long bodywork, which will easily accommodate all three rows of seating. The Ascent will be 198 inches long. That’s exactly 9 inches over the current Outback, so you can get an idea how spacious will be the new three-row SUV. The wheelbase sports 117 inches, which is almost good as the new GMC Acadia.

The 2019 Subaru Ascent will sit on company’s global platform. This way, the carmaker significantly cuts the expenses. Plus, it’s going to produce the crossover at Subaru’s plant in Lafayette, Indiana, where they currently produce Legacy, Outback, and new Impreza.

Subaru hasn’t confirmed anything regarding performance, but we are sure what’s under the hood of the all-new crossover. The 2019 Ascent will definitely use a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with all-wheel drive and CVT transmission. Aside it’s going to lie horizontally, the engine will feature direct injection technology that’s will enable a power output of around 300 horsepower. The carmaker will reportedly give a try to a 3.6-liter boxer, but we are not so sure about this matter. Instead, the SUV could host some kind of hybrid in the near future.
