2016 Kia Sportage Redesign — New Styling and Better Performance

Kia’s fourth generation Sportage SUV has been caught several times in the last few mounts, and by looking the spy photos we can conclude that the carmaker makes a large twist in the design department. The 2016 Kia Sportage will definitely feature a new design language that would make it more modern and evolutionary. Also, there will be some big changes that regard current performance, so except of the new engines, the SUV will also get a new transmission.

2016 Kia Sportage: Redesign Details

The exterior design of the 2016 Kia Sportage will be based on the KX3 concept. It means that the vehicle should feature a little bit dynamic look and a completely different front fascia. In the front, the SUV will have a new and wider grille, which will be lower positioned and larger lower air intake. Also, there will be an updated headlights styling and totally redesigned fog lights. The rear end will have new LED taillights and new bumper design. There is also a new dual exhaust system.Inside, the vehicle gets new design and a new gauge cluster with larger information screen, as well as the new three-spoke steering wheel.

2016 Kia Sportage: Engines

The engine options of the U.S. version 2016 Kia Sportage will include a 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline units. First engine should deliver 204 hp, while the stronger 2.0-liter engine should be boosted up to 245 hp. Both options will be paired with an all-new 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The European 2016 Sportage will come with a 1.2-liter T-GDi four-cylinder that delivers 132 horsepower and a 1.6-liter T-GDi with 204 horses. There will be also a 1.6-liter CRDi turbodiesel option with 136 horsepower.

2016 Sportage: Price and Arrival

The new generation Kia Sportage will be introduced sometime this year, and the starting price should stay almost, the same or more precisely under $22,000.
