BMW’s future flagship SUV is almost ready for production. The vehicle had been spotted testing on countless occasions over the past and this year so far. The latest prototypes are not using any heavy camouflage at all, so it’s quite evident what to expect from the full-size SUV. Still, the last testing model hosts some additional details, which means that this could be the mild performance 2019 BMW X7 M50i.
Let’s get straight, the M50i won’t be the topper, but it will use an awesome powertrain without any doubt. The carmaker is basically making the seven-seat SUV for the North American customers, so any kind of diesel power is out of options. Instead, the amazing high-rider will get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The M Performance model will probably get 450 horsepower or even more. Of course, the power will supply all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2019 BMW X7 M50i will likely have two or even more suspension configurations: normal adaptive shocks and an M-tuned air ride.
As for the particular prototype, well, there are a couple tweaks that give away SUV’s M nature. The front bumper styling is exactly the same as the X3 and X4 M40i models have. More precisely, air intakes are enlarged and V-shaped, which is the distinctive detail for all M Performance SUVs including the last X2. In addition, the 2019 BMW X7 M50i will host an active grille, so these two kidneys are going to be drug-free at a high-speed drive. Most of the details are not obvious at the first glance. Instead, we’ve noticed them later, after we’ve seen the blue brake calipers. Though, the rear end is also essentially different thanks to notched squared-off exhaust tips. In case you don’t see, the performance model’s mufflers are recessed into the bumper, which is not going to be the case with the regular X7.
